Last fall I took up running and in March I ran my 1st half marathon. Since then, I've become addicted to running and have signed up for another half marathon and the New York City marathon this November. Here's the issue, the 1/2 marathon I signed up for is this Saturday and if I were to run it I would miss out on fishing the new moon on Friday and Saturday nights. If it were any other new moon I would probably not have problem but for the last few years the new and full moons around now have always been very productive. As for the running, I have been training for the past 12 weeks just for this 1/2 marathon so, to not complete the process would not be great. If it were the NYC marathon, there would be no question that I would run but the Queens 1/2 marathon.... ? What to do? Both are important to me for different reasons but fishing is definitely #1.

hmm... I don't know man that's a tough one. on one hand you gotta commit to what you've trained to do, on the other hand there's fishing, which usually supersedes everything but your wife giving birth, and even then, when the weather and wind and tides are right, there may be a way around it. this is not a decision I'd want to make haha. But since it's not me, I'm going to vote fish.

Yeah, it's a tough call. I think I'll go with the fishing but not sure. I'm going to make a last min decision. It would be great to beat my last half marathon time of 1:55 and I think I can. I'll be missing the full moon mid month which is when I've caught my biggest fish too. Argh. I'm torn. I could fish one night if I ran on Sat but I'll be way to sore to do that walk!

Why feel torn? You should continue training for the marathon - you won't forget how to fish and if you miss the new moon, so what?
The marathon is a challenge that you should put first now.
