Today at 1:30 the IGFA ruled that the largemouth bass caught by Japan's Manabu Kurita is in fact a world record. But, because it was only a few ounces bigger than the bass caught by George Perry it is deemed a tie! "Since Kurita's bass does not exceed the weight of Perry's fish by more than 2 ounces, it is not eligible to qualify as a new world record according to IGFA regulations." Perry's record stood alone for 77 years, 7 months and 6 days!
It played out live on bassmaster.com see it here:

Congratulations to Manabu Kurita. He is a true trophy hunter dedicated to the pursuit of world record bass like no other. I am proud to say that in the past year he has become one of my closest friends, Another person who helps him a great deal but receives no real credit is Reika Ishaguro who designs his website, communicates his thoughts and wishes to me and others, and also is a great angler in her own right. Manabu and Reika are good friends and you can talk with both of them at my website at Northeast Bass Fishing For Trophy Bass. http://delawaretrophybass.com
Tight lines, and best of luck to all trophy hunters the world over on the next world record. Steve Owner

1 0z, 1 gram, 1 anything more would not define a tie. Check Websters dictionary for definition on a tie and not the one you wear. I would like to see the wording for IGFA on records and when was this rule added (exact date) if this is a rule for IGFA than it should be specific in writing and not vague. Anyone have a link to there laws or rules on this issue? I have no monetary or other interest in this other than giving credit where credit is due.
