I'm pretty sure I'm about to write the same thing I wrote last year after attending the Fly Fishing Show in Somerset, NJ. It was great to see loads of familiar faces but depressing that there is absolutely nothing new and exciting in our sport. Don't get me wrong, I can watch Lefty cast an entire fly line with just the tip section all day long but is there no one new out there? Note to Lefty, please don't die, because fly fishing might follow.
Here are a few iPhone pics from the floor.
Who wouldn't get married after getting one?
Brad Burns: Pres of Stripers Forever. If you fish for striped bass I urge you to join this group. Click here now
Capt Jamie Boyle tying some tube flies. Psssst he invented the bonito bunny one of my favorite flies. Check out his website
If you fly fish the salt in the NE this guy needs no intro. Bob Popovics, creator of many unique flies including one of my all time favorites the jiggy fleye

Hard to believe it was once the fastest growing sport in America. Except for the 10 years or so after "The Movie" Saltwater Fly-Fishing has always been a sport with fairly low participation. I think a lot of fly fishers moved toward surfcasting.
