I was fishing a popular Montauk spot the other day and was catching a bass on ever cast. I know why I was catching them but I have no idea why one other guy was too.

It is difficult to see what is beyond the bar to the left of the picture but I would say; the bait that was getting past the current you were fishing may have been getting pushed into the bar to your right. There seems to be a rip on either side of where he was standing. Bass were probably waiting in that current for the bait to get swirled back into the rip.
