Wood is good win with tin. There was a time when I used to fish from the surf in Nantucket every summer and the only things I ever used were Hopkins, chicken scratch Bombers, and Rangers, then one day I bought a Deadly Dick. I'm not sure what year it was but I have never used another tin since. While sometimes I'll modify it with a tube, especially when the big sand eels are around, most of the time I leave it as is. The only complaint I have with it are the hooks which are easily switched to a single or a small VMC treble.
