In only 7 days the city of Pittsburgh will be inundated with professional bass fishermen and the fans that follow them. What's the occasion... It's the 2009 Forrest Wood Cup! The winner of this tournament will walk home with $1,000,000 - the biggest prize in bass fishing. And if the new installation at the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh is any indication, this city is ready:
*FISH FACTS
Installation: July 29, 2005 in the Museum’s parking lot
Length: 14’, 8” each
Girth: 10’ each
Weight: ~ 400 pounds each
*The Concept Design of this trio of fish was by Elizabeth and Chris Siefert, with Sculpture Design, Fabrication and Production by Brian Reneski and the Lead Painting done by Sandy Kessler. A statement by the Concept Design artists who created this unique piece of public art: “My daughter and I wanted people to recognize the children’s museum. So we came up with the idea to place sculptures in the parking lot – three giant bass that will turn with the wind. We came up with this idea because of our personal histories with fish and fishing. We also believe that people connect with fish on many different levels.”
*In September 2005 Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh asked its visitors to help us name the fish and 350 responses later, the winning name was selected in October 2005:
Al, Mo & Oh… The Three That Got Away
