I find it very hard to concentrate this time of year as I can't stop thinking about the spring migration of striped bass (and the winter holdovers) which are about to invade our waters. (I posted a countdown clock to my anticipated first bass a few weeks ago ... 26 Days 14 Hours to go).
So, with less than a month to go it's time to post my 2008 fishing goals. They are:
-Focus on conservation
-Catch a 40 pound bass from the surf
-Catch 500+ bass from the surf
-Learn more North side spots in Montauk
-Keep detailed records of every fish caught (which I started to do last year)
-Help my soon to be 2 year old son catch his first fish!
Last year I successfully reached a few of the goals I set (striped bass over 30 pounds). Its going to be tough this year as my schedule is busier than ever but it's important to set goals.
500 fish from the beach! That's a serious goal.
