Ron Schara from the Minneapolis Star Tribune has an interesting article this morning about whether tournaments should be a game of inches as opposed to weight. Not being a tournament fisherman myself I'm sure I'm missing some of the intricacies...but as someone who is into conservation not keeping fish in a livewell for hours waiting for weigh in sounds like a good idea.
"Yes, an inches tournament weigh-in becomes a non-event for spectators -- no big catches to ogle over -- but it might save fish. No longer will a team's catch spend hours in a boat livewell until weigh-in. Instead, the fish is photographed and promptly released, which should help survival rates."
